The 2023 edition of IDS Academy, the section of Italian Doc Screenings dedicated to the development of documentary projects, one of the most important Italian intensive training events for documentary filmmakers looking for production, is about to begin.
The IDS Academy Matchmaking program includes: three days of intensive laboratory with internationally experienced tutors, focused on the improvement and development of the selected projects and a final public pitch which allows the participants to present their projects in the presence of documentary producers, with the aim of promoting productive collaborations. In fact, one to one meeting sessions are planned.
In addition to candidates with a project in development, another selection of candidates is envisaged: it concerns those candidates who do not have an idea or a project, but who are interested in expanding their skills and who will be able to assist and actively participate in the planned activities.
The initiative - carried out in collaboration and with the support of MiC – Direzione Generale Cinema and Film Commission Torino Piemonte - will take place in Turin from 23 to 27 November 2023 as part of the VI edition of the TFI - Torino Film Industry.
IDS Academy is one of the most awaited events in the entire documentary industry, as it represents a real opportunity to support creativity and the production of documentaries in Italy.
Massimo Arvat, member of the Doc/it Board and one of the managers of IDS Academy, declares: "IDS Matchmaking has given excellent results over the years with prestigious debuts and success cases, one for all the recent "Amor" by Virginia Eleuteri Serpieri, produced by Stefilm and presented in the official Out of Competition selection at the latest edition of the Venice International Film Festival."
The partners of the initiative are several: Premio Solinas; Zelig/EsoDoc – European Social Documentary; NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti; Biografilm and Bio to B – Industry days; DocCelerator.
The president of Doc/it Francesco Virga states that: "IDS and its Academy are among the initiatives organized by Doc/it in which the objectives of our Association and the creative and productive aspirations of the Italian documentary perfectly intersect. For this reason, we are investing heavily in this event, trying to maximize the training offer, quality partnerships and the presence of international experts."
In this edition of IDS are also scheduled: case histories, masterclasses, and panels for in-depth analysis and comparisons dedicated to the most current issues in the sector, in which anyone in possession of TFI - Torino Film Industry 2023 accreditation can participate.
Please remember that the deadline for sending applications to participate in the next edition of IDS Academy is Sunday 22 October.
