As part of the European project AVENUE CoVE – ERASMUS+, the Politecnico di Torino is organising AI for Immersive Technologies: Enhancing Virtual and Augmented Realities, a training course dedicated to the intersection of artificial intelligence and VR and AR technologies.
The course will take place from 29 June to 3 July 2026, with afternoon sessions from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, and is aimed at audiovisual professionals already working with XR or AI systems or wishing to approach these topics, as well as researchers and students looking to explore the integration of the two technologies.
Participants will explore how AI enhances immersive environments, with in-depth coverage of adaptive content, virtual humans, real-time NLP, emotion recognition and ethical implications. The course will conclude with a take-home assignment in which participants will design a conceptual AI-enhanced XR experience, through a combination of lectures and practical case studies.
The instructor is Francesco Strada, who after completing his PhD in Computer Science at the Politecnico di Torino is currently a researcher and lecturer at the same university, where he co-coordinates the Computer Graphics and Vision Group (CGVG). His research interests include virtual and augmented reality for learning and training, Serious Games, human-machine interaction, and the use of immersive technologies in collaborative scenarios.
Participation is by application and open to a maximum of 15 people. Activities will be held at Aula R1B of the Politecnico di Torino. Application deadline: 26 June 2026, 2:00 PM. Applicants will be notified at the email address provided by 27 June 2026.
