At the Street Cinema School with Tekla Taidelli: applications open from October 26 to November 9, 2026

At the Street Cinema School with Tekla Taidelli, in collaboration with Film Commission Torino Piemonte, Associazione Paìs, and Accademia Epica, as part of TFI Torino Film Industry 9, presents “Torino Street Cinema Short Film #1”: a 2-day workshop dedicated to under-35s for the creation of a short film adapting the poem "Still I Rise" by the African-American poet Maya Angelou.

“Torino Street Cinema Short Film #1”, produced by the Street Cinema School, is a social cinema project adapting the poem "Still I Rise" by the African-American poet and civil rights activist Maya Angelou. Reflecting the Street Cinema School’s social mission, the project promotes women’s empowerment and uses cinema and audiovisual arts as a means of transforming personal experience into artistic production, making it a tool for expression, inclusion, and active citizenship. The women starring in the short film—selected through the collaboration with Associazione Paìs—define a space, a community, and a voice for the symbolic conquest of their future.

The workshop will take place in November 2026 and features a two-day full immersion for the realization of the short film. On November 26, there will be a shooting day, preceded by an introductory lesson by Tekla Taidelli on cinematography, audio, and actor directing. Participants will work on a rotational basis across all departments (directing, cinematography, audio, script supervision, and backstage). On November 27, work will focus on editing and finalizing the film under the guidance of Tekla Taidelli at the Accademia Epica venue in Turin.
The journey will culminate with the official screening of the short film during the industry screenings of TFI Torino Film Industry 9, on the evening of Sunday, November 29 at Cinema Lux Movie Planet in Turin, accompanied by a Q&A with the director and students.
Writers and filmmakers under 35 residing or domiciled in Piedmont are eligible to apply. 9 participants will be selected.

Applications must be submitted between October 26 and November 9, 2026, to info@torinofilmindustry.it

The final selection will be communicated no later than November 13, 2026.
Participation is free of charge; selected participants are required to purchase the TFI Torino Film Industry 9 accreditation according to the procedures indicated in the call.
